Brand refresh and annual report for inner-city youth organization providing teen mentorship and music-centered after school programming.
The organization was in need of a refreshed look and feel. The prior branding was limited, featuring a single color and a type selection that was outdated, difficult to read, and lacked sophistication. 2019's annual report was used to introduced the new branding and to hopefully inspire and instill confidence in new donors.
Considerations
Branding needed to appeal to children and teens as well as instill confidence for parents and donors.

Primary Typeface

Platform is a quirky, geometric sans serif that meets the demand for both sophistication and youthfulness. It's friendly, fun, and easy to read—perfect for a children's non-profit.
Secondary Typeface

Characterized by its clarity and legibility, making it well-suited for user interfaces and long-form text. Inspired by American gothic typefaces, it balances clarity with a touch of humanist influence.
The original palette was limited to the red and darker blues seen below, with additional colors being selected haphazardly and it's application a bit heavy handed. In adding the light blue we could bring some lightness and sophistication, and through yellow and orange accents, a bit of warmth and balance. Â
New City Kids' 2019 annual report was to communicate not only the organization's mission but reflect its energy, fun, and youthfulness. I designed this report with these qualities in mind, as well as captured the majority of imagery shown. I also conducted internal surveys, researched statistics, and made many copy writing and editing contributions.
